Traditional Chinese Medicine & Complimentary Health Therapies

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an integrated system of primary health care that has an uninterrupted history of use and development in China and other parts of East Asia dating back over five thousand years.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine health care system covers a range of therapeutic interventions including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, remedial massage, exercise therapy, food therapy, diet/lifestyle advice and preventative health care.

At Strathpine Healthcare Clinic our practitioners are qualified primary-contact health care professionals and are educated in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, diagnosis and assessment as well as the Western bio-medical sciences.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on a coherent and substantial body of knowledge developed over thousands of years of clinical practice and intellectual endeavour. Our qualified practitioners draw on these traditional and modern sources to arrive at individually tailored treatments.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific acu-points along the bodys meridians. Stimulating these acu-points clears energy blockages and encourages the normal flow of qi through the body. The acu-points may also be stimulated using other methods, including moxibustion, cupping, laser therapy, electrostimulation and massage, in order to re-establish the flow of qi. We use sterile disposable needles in our pracitce. All of our Acupuncturists are fully registered, insured and are recognised by Private health funds.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine involves the use of substances from nature to regulate and normalise body function. Most Chinese herbs are of plant origin though some animal and mineral substances may also be used. Traditionally, the herbs are slowly simmered in a ceramic pot and the resulting liquid taken as prescribed. Chinese herbs are available in pills, granules, powders, tablets, capsules, tinctures, ointments and plasters. At Strathpine Healthcare Clinic we endeavour to source the most effective and best quality herbal formulas available in Australia.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Remedial Massage

Traditional Chinese Medicine remedial massage involves the use of physical therapy such as massage and soft-tissue manipulation to release blockages and regulate the flow of Qi. At SHCC a complimentary 10 minute massage is included with most acupuncture treatments.

We also offer Therapeutic Remedial Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Sports (pre and post) massage and Relaxation massage by highly trained Massage Therapists.
